The years just keep flying by! As Rob and I celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary today, I look back at what seems like a lifetime together. Starting out as two baby-faced high school kids, who would have ever dreamed we would have made it this far? I remember the first time we hung out, watching a NYE fireworks display under (the original!) Jennette’s Pier. It was freezing, and dark, and awesome.
Our first date should have been a precursor for the rest of our life together. We went (or tried to go) offshore fishing. In January. In the cold. At 4:30am. Best laid plans…..the boat broke down and back to the dock we went before the sun was even up. Anyone who knows me knows I am the biggest grouch when I’m hungry. Have you ever tried to find breakfast on the OBX at 7am in the middle of winter? There is hardly anything open for dinner that time of year so breakfast is next to impossible. It’s also how we ended up at McDonald’s on our first date….which Rob continues to insist was NOT a date! Instead, we went to dinner that night at the same restaurant that ended up catering our wedding 12 years later!
Over the years we’ve had a lot of obstacles and a great start to a lifetime of fun. We’ve seen each other through high school graduations, college graduations, moving, new jobs, new businesses, home buying, and finally our wedding. Being married to a boat captain isn’t always an exciting exotic adventure, but it’s OUR adventure. Through high tide and low tide, I’ll be by your side.
So in honor of our anniversary today I figure it’s finally time to blog some of our wedding photos by the always amazing Ginny Corbett. I can’t wait to see her again in a few weeks when she photographs the wedding of one of my best friends (and bridesmaid!) Alex.
