I am so so so excited to get Alison & Anthony’s Ocracoke Island Engagement Session up on the blog! Several weeks ago I was in the middle of a senior portrait session when I could hear my phone buzzing in the camera bag. During a brief break to change locations I took a quick check only to see Alison’s name on the missed call screen. Considering she normally texts me to let me know she would be coming into town, I just KNEW it had to be what I thought it was. Sure enough, as soon as I finished my session for the evening I listened to her voicemail and heard the news…..she was finally ENGAGED!
She and Anthony live in Connecticut, but vacation every year on Ocracoke Island…one of my favorite places. She really wanted to do her session while in town, and I was more than happy to make the trek down to the island for it. A peaceful drive down, and ferry ride across and we were ready to get started. I had several places I wanted to shoot in, and was so glad that they were game for anything. Making stops at the Ocracoke Lighthouse, Springers Point, a favorite secrete spot of mine, and the marina – before finally heading back to their cottage for some sunset photos on the water.
One of the things I love about CHP couples is they are nothing if not adventurous and full of life (just like me!). Our ideal client is one who goes with the flow, trusts us completely, and isn’t afraid to get a little crazy to get the shot. You know you’ve got the right clients when you see a beat up old John Boat on the banks and the first thing out of your mouth is “you think it’s seaworthy?” and they STILL get in it for you! 🙂 After promising I wouldn’t let them float away, we photographed through the most epic sunset to capture some of my most favorite images. Everything about this whole afternoon and session has me tickled pink and I can’t wait for their wedding next fall in Connecticut!
