A common theme for 2020 were intimate weddings, and I’m totally here for it! Gina & Lewis hosted their sweet seaside wedding at The Village Beach Club and it couldn’t have been more perfect – even with the looming weather! As we arrived at VBC there was a light sprinkle happening but dark clouds all around us, and in true Outer Banks fashion we had to weigh all sides to make a call. Along with the staff at VBC we quickly put together a “Plan B” ceremony setup, and decided to just give it a little bit more time before making a decision. Finally after a lot of radar watching we all said “let’s just go for it” and with two guys holding giant beach umbrellas over mine and Sara’s heads to ensure our gear stayed dry (and literally RUNNING around following us with said umbrellas!!) we go the show on the road.
Gina & Lewis opted out of a bridal party, but Gina was walked down the aisle by her two boys. They had a sweet and heartfelt ceremony and just like that they said “I DO” and we had dodged the rain! After a few quick family formals we spent a little time with them before heading back inside so they could have their first dance. One of the highlights were the toasts given by her sons, and it was so clear they couldn’t have hand-picked a better life partner for Gina than Lewis. Just as we were packing up so they could begin dinner we noticed a beautiful purple sky had popped up and I’m so glad we were able to sneak outside for just a few more portraits to finish up the day!
