Settle into your seats, because this is going to be one long blog post – maybe even one of the longest wedding blogs we’ve done! Meredith & Mike and had so many amazing moments and details at their Pelican’s Landing wedding in Corolla, that when it came time to pull images for the blog – I just couldn’t stop. They were one of our Fall 2014 weddings that didn’t make it onto the blog yet due to the hustle of wedding season – and I knew it would take some time to do their blog post justice!

Meredith & Mike’s picked Pelican’s Landing in Corolla as their venue, for the ease of being able to host everything in one spot – including space for a tent (which is a MUST in my book!). Getting ready at the house with her girls, Meredith didn’t see Mike until it was time for their “First Look” at the Historic Whalehead Club. What a gorgeous backdrop! Mother Nature held out the whole way through, and it didn’t start raining until JUST as we finished. I can’t express enough how much I LOVE when couples opt to do a First Look. The biggest benefit is being able to fit in all the amazing photos couples want, including at a different location if you desire. However, an added plus is that it seems to erase all the pre-wedding jitters couples tend to have. I watch my couples as the stress/nerves instantly melt away as soon as they’ve seen each other – and that makes the entire wedding day so much less stressful.

Everything about their details were so gorgeous. In all my years I have never seen DIY decor so put together and beautiful – but Meredith’s sister totally knocked it out of the park. She did a fantastic job on not only their reception decor but the stunning arch on the beach covered in flowers. Their day was not without a little stress, as it started to pour down rain right after all the guests were seated. A quick delay in the ceremony, the rain passed, and off we went. Mother Nature wasn’t done though, and mid-ceremony a huge wave washed up on the beach – with one of Meredith’s brothers coming to the rescue and literally scooping her up off the sand! As quickly as the wave came in, it went back out, and just like that they were Husband & Wife! We spent some time on the beach with their adorable son and spoiled puppy, before heading up to the reception.

They opted for a clear tent with lights, and I’ve not seen a more gorgeous sky than what they had during their first dance. It was a photographer’s dream and I couldn’t believe it even as I was shooting it. Meredith & Mike – thank you so much for letting me help your wedding come to life with photos!
