Alison is basically family, and now Anthony is too. I’ve known Alison for so many years I’ve lost count and I was so excited when she and Anthony finally got engaged. I remember the day vividly – traveling between locations when my cell phone range and up popped Ali’s number. I just had a gut feeling it was THE call – and sure enough when I finished up my session and called her back she confirmed my suspicions! She and Anthony do a summer trip to the OBX each year with friends and we knew their week-long stay was the perfect time to capture their Ocracoke Island Engagement Session. To date, it’s one of my favorite engagement session ever.

I was so honored that out of everyone they chose to have me come to them! If you know anything you know I’m a sucker for photographing weddings in new and unique locations. The Outer Banks is stunning, but nothing gets those creative juices flowing like a getting to photograph in new venue. I marked the day off and got to planning my trip up to Connecticut to make all my New England Fall Wedding dreams come true!

When Sarah and I landed in Hartford (on Halloween weekend!) we thought our shuttle driver was picking on the “beach girls” when he started throwing around the word SNOW. He wasn’t. It doesn’t get more New England than snow in the fall – so we promptly made a pitstop at Target for hats and gloves…ha! If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to photograph a big Italian wedding….I’m just here to tell you I thought they were going to have to roll us out of that reception. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much at a wedding in my entire life – and the food just kept coming. Every time we turn around someone was passing us another plate of food….and because food is my love language you’ll hear no complaints from me. Anthony’s family owns a traditional Italian bakery and made the cake and alllll the amazing cookies and pastries for their wedding. Did I mention we totally overate? Our luggage wasn’t the only thing needing to be weighed on the return flight!

These guys know how to party, because once dinner was over they got the formalities out of the way and it was time to dance. Alison has a soft spot for 90’s boy bands and belted out allllll the things. We can’t express how much we loved getting to be a part of this beautiful day is such a beautiful location.
