Hey there, I’m Courtney, the face behind CHP and I’ve been happily photographing love throughout the Outer Banks since 2008. I feel so blessed to be living out my own love story, married to my high school sweetheart and raising our two little boys in the best place possible.

Our style is where classic meets modern, for couples who are joyful & adventurous with a love for the coastal life. We approach your session from an editorial, or magazine-like, standpoint. Our goal is always to capture both a mixture of classic portraits with a modern feel, while still incorporating playful and candid moments.

Engagement Sessions

Often the engagement session is the only professional photos a couple will have together in non-wedding attire, and they’re a great addition to the collection of photos that will tell your love story. Engagement sessions typically last around 60-90 minutes, in a single location, and many couples will opt for an outfit change to have a little variety.

We absolutely LOVE photographing surprise proposals and we’re here to help you make the day perfect. We will collaborate with you determine the perfect location to pop the question, and walk you through the best strategy to make it go off without a hitch.

Sometimes it’s a complete surprise during a walk on the beach, sometimes it’s before a special dinner at your favorite waterfront restaurant, maybe during a couples or family activity when they least expect it, or even a romantic beach picnic. No matter you’re wish, we’re here to make it happen. We have several local companies we’re happy to refer to also help bring your vision to life if you envision a setup for a picnic or scene. The sky truly is the limit!

Couple’s Sessions

Not yet engaged or already married? Just wanting some updated photos of the two of you together? We LOVE that. Professional photos don’t have to represent a milestone, they can be “just because”. We approach our couple’s sessions exactly the same way we would any other sessions – relaxed and focused on your love.

Where should we take our photos?

We encourage our couples to choose a location that feels meaningful to them and their relationship. If it’s including your favorite hobby (like boating, golf, the beach, etc) we are happy to help come up with something that feels authentic to you. We have our tried-and-true favorite beach spot that we LOVE to photograph on, but if there’s another spot special to you we want to hear all about it.

For beach photos, our sessions take place at Coquina Beach in South Nags Head. Our session pricing includes locations within the “middle beaches”.

Frequently Asked questions…

A signed contract and non-refundable session fee is due at booking to reserve your date. All clients are booked within our online booking system.

We keep an eye on the weather throughout the day, and are usually able to work around it by adjusting our start time. In the event of a total rain-out, we will move your session to another day. For this reason we do ask that our clients are flexible when booking, as our weather can be unpredictable.

We try to have a social media preview up within a couple days, and your full gallery is delivered within 3 weeks of your session. Images are delivered via digital download from your private online gallery.

We love when couples incorporate their pets. We do highly suggest if you plan to bring pets along that you have someone there to help wrangle them or hand the off for solo couples photos. If not that’s ok, we will make it work!

Due to our location, most couples opt for beach photos. In those cases, Coquina Beach in South Nags Head is our preferred beach for photography. It’s where 99% of beach photos on our site are taken. If the beach isn’t your jam, or you have a certain location in mind, just let us know! We love getting creative in different locations.

We treat our couples sessions the same, regardless of if you’re engaged, already married, or “just because”. Our goal is to focus on you as a couple, your love, and lean into your personality. That means some sessions are a little more traditional for our couples that are more reserved, OR we embrace the laughter of our couples who are more spontaneous and want to leave into their playful side. As with any session we will guide you through gentle prompts to help bring out those organic moments. We tend to start sessions up in the dunes and then work our way down towards the water.
