It’s not often I blog about myself on here, but today I just couldn’t help it!
This morning I did something I’ve been wanting to do for years….I celebrated my birthday with a skydiving jump! The jump was a super awesome gift from my parents, and a fabulous way to start my birthday off. Most people think, “what…your PARENTS bought you a skydiving jump?”. Well, I come from an aviation family of pilots so nothing is too crazy in our family. 🙂
I headed over to the airpot in Manteo to meet up with the great folks over at Skydive OBX for a little morning fun. After signing my life away and watching a video, it was time to get suited up. We were heading out to the plane just as my crazy group of spectators showed up to watch the fun. We headed up to 9000 feet and got ready to jump!
I was not nervous in the least the couple of days and even the flight leading up to the jump. As soon as they rolled the door up I remember thinking I was nuts! My instructor had me put my feet outside the plane but the wind was SO strong I couldn’t really get them on the platform I was supposed to be standing on. I didn’t really have time to hesitate because out we went! OMG….it was amazing. I couldn’t breath during the free fall, nor could I stop screaming and smiling. We grabbed hands with another skydiver for some spinning before pulling the cord and coasting down. What an amazing experience! It was absolutely awesome, and I can’t wait to do it again. Now it’s back to work, but this morning’s adventure was totally worth it. If you’ve thought about skydiving…..DO IT….and make sure to give the awesome people over at Skydive OBX a call to set up a jump!
I handed the camera to my brother, who grabbed some photos as we were heading out and coming in – can’t miss me….I’m the one in pink!
I also purchased the photo/video package, and here are a few from them:

What an amazing experience! I jumped a few years ago and it was just as you described it, except I WAS scared! 🙂 When do you jump again??
I think the Amish looking guy in the video they show you is scarier than the jump.
