One of my favorite things about family vacations on the Outer Banks is seeing multiple generations come together, and the Henry family was such a wonderful example of that. Their session included everyone from great-grandparents all the way down to the newest member of the family, making it especially meaningful to capture this season of life for them.
Since they were staying soundside in Hatteras, we met up at one of my favorite beach locations in Hatteras Village. Like most OBX photographers, I’m always keeping one eye on the sky, and this evening brought the usual mix of wind, changing forecasts, and a little uncertainty. Thankfully, the Henry family was incredibly flexible, and we were able to make the most of a beautiful evening—walking off the beach just as the first sprinkles started to fall.
We began the session up near the dunes with the larger family groupings before making our way down to the shoreline as the light softened. By the end of the evening, everyone had settled into the moment, and some of my favorite images came from those relaxed interactions by the water. It’s always a privilege to photograph families like the Henrys and preserve memories that will only become more valuable with time.
