Meaghan & Hayden | A Coastal Winter Wedding on the Outer Banks

There is something extra special about an Outer Banks wedding in December….the quiet, the soft light, the calm water. Meaghan and Hayden’s day was the perfect reminder that winter weddings here are pure magic. Traveling in for a destination celebration, these two brought their favorite people to the OBX for a day that felt intimate, joyful, and completely them from start to finish.

The day began at the charming Tranquil House Inn, tucked right along the Manteo waterfront. The cozy inn was the perfect setting for a December wedding morning — peaceful, warm, and full of anticipation.
Meaghan and Hayden chose to do a first look on the back lawn, overlooking the water, and it was one of those moments that just stops time

Their ceremony took place at George Washington Park, with Shallowbag Bay creating the dreamiest coastal backdrop. Even though it was December the weather showed off – mild, calm, and absolutely beautiful. The soft winter light over the water paired perfectly with their wedding palette of dusty blues, whites, and touches of gold, giving everything a timeless coastal elegance without feeling overdone. As they stood surrounded by their closest family and friends, you could feel just how intentional this day was. Every detail pointed back to what mattered most to them; being together, keeping things personal, and creating a celebration where everyone felt included and relaxed.

Just steps away, guests gathered at the Waterfront Trellis for an evening filled with laughter, good food, and a whole lot of fun. From the start, Meaghan and Hayden made it clear they wanted their guests to truly enjoy themselves, and they did exactly that. What made this wedding so special wasn’t just the gorgeous coastal setting or the beautiful winter light, it was them. Meaghan and Hayden’s relationship started as a friendship, and you can see that foundation in every interaction. They laugh easily, don’t take themselves too seriously, and simply love being together.

Their wedding day reflected that perfectly: heartfelt, relaxed, and full of joy.

An Outer Banks winter wedding, waterfront views, soft coastal colors, and a love story rooted in friendship – Meaghan and Hayden’s day was one we won’t soon forget.

If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding on the OBX (yes, even in winter!), let this be your sign. 💙
