A Coastal Love Story

Megan and Zach’s love story started back in college in Maryland—but it’s safe to say that North Carolina, and especially the Outer Banks, has always had Megan’s heart. After years of family vacations filled with salty air, sandy toes, and coastal daydreams, it was only natural that her path would eventually lead her back here. Her passion for Coastal Studies pulled her toward Eastern North Carolina after college… and Zach didn’t take long to follow.

Now, with Megan’s parents officially living that retired-beach-life on the OBX, Megan and Zach visit the coast as often as they can. So when Zach popped the question during a dreamy day at a Virginia winery, there was no question where they’d want to capture the next chapter of their love story.

Spring on the Outer Banks is always a bit of a weather wild card—think sunshine one minute, misty skies the next. But we lucked out, sneaking their session in between the clouds and raindrops. We started at the ever-iconic Bodie Island Lighthouse, wandering the boardwalks and soaking in those marshy views. Then we made our way to one of my favorite tucked-away beaches for a romantic stroll by the sea.
It was the perfect blend of sentimental and coastal, and the kind of afternoon that feels exactly like home for hearts like theirs.
