A classic Nags Head engagement session filled with windswept dunes, barefoot beach walks, and two people completely at home together on the Outer Banks.
Bailey & Jake’s engagement session was the perfect blend of classic Outer Banks charm and playful, carefree moments. Although the two call Pennsylvania home, the OBX has become such a meaningful place to them through their annual family vacations, making it the perfect backdrop to document this season of life together. From the very beginning, their vision was centered around timeless coastal photos that felt natural, relaxed, and true to who they are as a couple.
The two first met while attending Penn State, and their story eventually came full circle with a proposal at the Penn State Arboretum. Between their shared love for sporting events, trying new coffee shops, and spending time with family, it was easy to see how naturally they fit together. They brought such an easy energy to their session, and one of my favorite parts was getting to lean into their playful side throughout the evening.
We started the session tucked into the dunes of Nags Head, capturing a mix of classic portraits and candid moments as the sea oats swayed around them. As the evening went on, we made our way down toward the shoreline where the soft light, ocean breeze, and barefoot walks along the water gave us that effortlessly timeless Outer Banks feel they had envisioned from the start. Sessions like this are always such a reminder that engagement photos don’t have to feel overly posed — sometimes the best images come from simply slowing down, laughing together, and soaking in a place that already means something to you.
