OBX Extended Family Beach Portraits

More than a photo session — extended family beach portraits that capture the people, personalities, and memories that matter most.

Capturing the chaos, connection, and love of your whole crew on the beach.

There’s just something special about a big family beach week. Slow mornings, sandy kids, dinners together, and everyone piled into one house making memories for a few days together. This sweet extended family session brought together grandparents, their two daughters and their families, and four fun little grandkids for a week on the Outer Banks.

We started the evening up in the dunes with some of the more classic portraits — the full family together, grandparents with the grandkids, individual families, and all the combinations in between. And while those photos are always important, some of our favorite moments happen in the in-between. The laughter, the chaos, kids running around barefoot, and grandparents soaking it all in.

Once we made our way down to the water, the whole session shifted into a more relaxed pace. The kids splashed in the waves, everyone loosened up a little more, and it honestly just felt like a family enjoying time together at the beach. Those are always the moments we love most — the genuine connection, the movement, and the memories being made in real time.

These extended family sessions are about so much more than getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time. They’re about preserving a season of life and documenting the people you love most together in one place.
