This was one of my favorite sessions of the 2020 season and was such a breath of fresh air in the midst of such an insane year! When Stephanie first emailed me with what they were looking for I knew it was going to be a jam-packed session and boy did we fit a lot in! The family gathered on the beach for what they thought was going to be your run-of-the-mill family beach portraits, as well as a first birthday cake smash for sweet little Ben. Unbeknownst to one unsuspecting family member, we also had a surprise proposal in the midst of our session!
Typically with extended family sessions, I always start with the group together and from there branch out to smaller family groupings & couples. Everything seemed perfectly normal as I worked through my rotation but little did Kristen know, Justin and I had already chatted to plan things out! I sent them on a little walk down the beach, and when it was time for them to walk back Justin dropped to one knee and popped the question!
After lots of hugs and congratulations we finished up our session letting Ben smash his cake on the sand, and some cute little tushie shots on the water, before snagging a few minute with Kristen & Justin for some engagement-style photos.
